Child and Adolescent Therapy

Despite the idea that childhood should be a fun and carefree time, children and adolescents can face many struggles as well. We will work with you, the parent, to identify the best treatment for your child, as well as to identify the best level of involvement in the therapy for the parent. This can range from collaborative sessions with children and parents working together in session to giving many teens plenty of space and privacy to work with the therapist on their own. Every child and family is different. Our Latrobe location has a dedicated play therapy room for utilizing a variety of child-centered and developmentally appropriate interventions for our preschool and elementary aged clients. Issues commonly treated include:

  • Mood disorders

  • Anxiety disorders

  • Loss and bereavement

  • Adjustment to major life changes, such as a divorce, moving, or a death in the family

  • Behavioral issues at home or at school

  • Bullying

  • Academic issues

  • Peer and social issues

  • Relationships and sexuality

  • Eating issues

  • Family conflict

  • Emotion regulation and self-harm
